Need extra support? How home care works at Continued Care
Arranging home care for yourself or a family member can
understandably be a stressful time.
It may be the first time it has been necessary to put extra
support in place due to health needs becoming more complex, for example loss of
mobility following a stroke. Or home care may simply be needed due to getting
older and being unable to tackle all the tasks we used to do with ease.
You may be unsure whether you need support on an on-going
basis, or you just need a bit of extra help for a few weeks or months while you
recover from an illness or a stay in hospital. You may even be considering home
care to give respite to a loved one who is your main carer.
It can be a dauting situation, especially if you have led an
independent life until now. However, finding the right care for yourself or a
relative can help improve the situation and bring comfort and support – as well
as maintaining as much independence as possible.
Flexible home care
The services we offer are flexible and vary in length of
time. They cover everything from help with personal care such as bathing and
washing, to housekeeping and cleaning, assistance with shopping, cooking and
preparing meals, and administering medication. For some people, loneliness is
their biggest challenge and we’re more than happy to provide companionship
visits. We can take clients shopping or even for a trip out, such as to a
nearby garden centre.
We can offer short respite, long-term 24-hour live in care
and everything in between. If you need someone on hand to help with all your
routine tasks, we can arrange that for you. Equally, if you just want the peace
of mind that comes with knowing someone is popping in a couple of times a day
to check on your loved one when you’re not close enough to do so yourself, we
can do that too.
If it is the first time you have needed to make these kinds
of arrangements, it can feel overwhelming. But we always say, ‘don’t panic’. It
may all be new to you, but we have been here many times before and have all the
knowledge at our fingertips to guide you through the process. The most
important thing is to put the right care in place to improve someone’s quality
of life and help them regain confidence.
How to arrange home
It is straightforward to book our services: you can simply
telephone our offices (Harrogate: 01423 871003 or Settle: 01729 810600) or
complete our online contact form. We will then arrange a
convenient time to visit your home to discuss the support you need and the
services we can provide. A care plan is then developed together, and we listen
carefully to ensure it includes everything that is important to you while
focusing on your independence and dignity.
You can choose the type of services that are right for you
and we offer a variety of options, tailoring care plans to reflect your needs.
It may be a simple pop-in call every day for half an hour, or multiple visits
during the day and evening.
Our team of skilled carers are passionate about what they do,
and you will get to know them well as they visit the same clients to ensure
continuity in the support we provide. Many of our carers and clients become
great companions, enjoying sharing their latest news and getting to know each
other over months and years. They understand how important their role is and
they know how much we appreciate the work they do too.
At Continued Care, we love getting to know clients from a
wide variety of backgrounds as individuals and aim to make a difference to
their daily lives. We take the time to listen, respect and value people in the
comfort of their own homes through the support we offer.
