Great news from the Great British Care Awards 2018!

We’re delighted that eight of our amazing staff members have been announced as finalists in the Yorkshire and Humber regional round of the Great British Care Awards 2018.

Care service manager Tanya Lowe is up for the Front Line Leader Award, care assessor Iona Novak is a finalist in the Care Assessor/Care Planner Award, care assistant Any Scott is vying for the Care Home Worker Award, and Sue McGowan, Lorand Szucs, Maria Gibson, Sarah Dalby and Krisztina Bajusz from Continued Care’s induction team (pictured below) are shortlisted in the Care Team Award.

The Great British Care Awards celebrate excellence and pay tribute to the outstanding contribution of everyone from frontline staff to managers in all areas of social care across England.

The awards are based on nominations, with many of the Continued Care finalists put forward by families of people they work with. All the candidates were then interviewed by a panel of judges, which Iona says she found nerve-wracking but exciting, as she explains: “I found myself in front of an interview panel. This is the first time that I have been chosen for an award and, whilst feeling excited and honoured, I was also very nervous. I arrived in time to find that I had to have my picture taken (wish I had a bit more lippy!) prior to interview.

“I was sitting in the interview room with my interviewer while there were other interviews taking place, and it was all very nerve-wracking. The interviewer put me at ease and I answered the questions asked with enthusiasm and passion about my role (I hope).

“That was it, 10 minutes later, all over and done with! I realised I’d been worried about nothing in the end. Fingers crossed now that I am a winner on the night. Then again, I am so pleased that I have been nominated in the first place. Thank you, Continued Care!”

Assessing some of the other categories was Continued Care’s director, Samantha Harrison, who was a judge in the awards for the first time.

She says: “It was a really interesting experience. The standard of entries was excellent and really highlighted the amazing work carried out every day by people in the care sector.”

This year’s awards will be presented at a series of regional ceremonies, with the Yorkshire and Humber event taking place on November 17 at the National Railway Museum, York. We’re absolutely thrilled that eight of Continued Care’s staff members have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to our company, our clients, and the care sector.

We wish them the very best of luck at the awards evening in November!
