Cycle challenge for cancer charity
Never one to shy away from a challenge, our Director, Samantha Harrison, is getting set to push herself to the limit as she prepares for a cycling event across Europe.
The 300-mile bike ride starts in London and continues to Amsterdam and Brussels, over four days this August. Just as when she rode from London to Paris last year (pictured above), Samantha will be accompanied by her husband Gareth and daughter Amy, along with four friends: Louise Annat from Heaven and Hell Fitness in Harrogate, Andy Roberts, and Jon and Sally Hatchard, along with their son Alec.
Once again, she is raising funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research, which supports many of our clients as well as friends and family members going through treatment for cancer.
Samantha said: “I’m thrilled to be in training for this exciting event all in aid of a brilliant cause. The route takes in some beautiful English villages, then onto Amsterdam before finishing in Bruges.
“It will be a real endurance test but I’m looking forward to the challenge. There is a great team spirit among us all which will stand us in good stead from the start to the finish line. Hopefully this time I won’t fall off my bike stationary!”
To kick off the fundraising campaign, the cyclists are hosting a Farm Day for all the family on Sunday 15th July from 12-4pm. There will be a craft barn, pop- up café, barbeque, bouncy castle, ice creams and a chance to meet the animals. The event takes place at Day Ash Farm, Darley, HG3 2QR.
Proceeds will be split between Yorkshire Cancer Research and the church roof fund for Thornthwaite Church.
Samantha added: “We are all looking forward to getting our fundraising underway for a charity we are proud to support.
“The Farm Day is set to be a great, fun afternoon for all the family and is the first step of planning for our challenge. Friends, family and the local community are all welcome to join us.”
